My Mission...

My name is Gregory, I am 38 and have lived with Epilepsy for over 20 years.  The purpose of this blog is to open lines of communication that have been taboo for years.  It is my hope you can learn from my mistakes, as well as successes with laughter and tears.
Those of us with Epilepsy or who are close to someone afflicted, need to deal with a myriad of challenges.  It is through these challenges and my education that I wish to share aspects of life which have been so prevalent in many others with Epilepsy worldwide.  I desire nothing less than to bring awareness to families, friends and doctors who surround people suffering from like issues caused by Epilepsy.  The stories and accounts you will read through my blog may sometimes be unimaginable and sometimes controversial.  However, it is because of these experiences that you, the reader, may be able to embrace different views and possibly make safer and more educated decisions.  Additionally, along your journey you may face some tough decisions.  I hope this venue will bring you a sense of comfort so that you may not feel  alone or unwelcome in the world.

To better understand this blog a person simply has to have had or seen a seizure.  Seizures come in different varieties: some are more extreme or violent; and some, people may not even know they are having one, seeing one, or anything in between.   There are few books on the subject but most are either large medical journals or tiny pamphlets which prepare people from a medical standpoint.  What is not disclosed and should be conveyed to an audience are how one feels internally when dealing with Epilepsy. Epilepsy can be an embarrassing, shameful, physically devastating, mentally challenging and draining disorder for the patient and their family or friends.   I want to change that perspective, here and now! Although this has been true for me as an individual, what is also true is how much I have grown and prospered as a person along the way…
